Samir Chantre asks for Justin Rader at Metamoris 3

Metamoris

Everyone knows how awesome it is to compete on a Metamoris card and our own Justin Rader could get the chance!

In an interview with BJJ Addict Radio last night, black belt Samir Chantre, respectfully, mentioned that he would like to meet Justin Rader at the next Metamoris.  Samir closed out the light feather division with Caio Terra at the No-Gi Worlds in 2010, the same year Justin Rader won his No-Gi World Championship.  The next two years, 2011 and 2012, Samir met Rader at featherweight and was defeated 2-0 both times.  Samir said there are many people he would like to face but he would really like to have that last match back.  He told BJJ Addict Radio that he has watched that match many times and has been focused on fixing his mistakes.  This could be a great opportunity for both competitors to get their foot in the door with Metamoris!  Rader is a black belt No-Gi World Champion and two time ADCC veteran, Metamoris could very well be the next step for him.  This is guaranteed to be an awesome match that the fans will love.  Make it happen!

UFC 166 in October Looks Show Off All That Mixed Martial Arts Has to Offer

Mixed Martial Arts

It’s a few months away, but UFC 166 looks to be a great night of fights that could transcend expectations.  However, some of our team will not be able to watch since it will be in Houston on October 19th while they are competing in the ADCC in Beijing!  As top competitors we truly love watching mixed martial arts.

Dos Santos will face Velasquez for the third time inside the octagon to settle the score.  In case you didn’t know, Dos Santos won the first match by knockout, while Velasquez won a unanimous decision the second time.  Dos Santos will need to be on his toes in order to come out on top after being dominated by Velasquez in their last match.  The co-main even will be a match between undefeated Daniel Cormier and Roy “Big Country” Nelson.  This match has a very high probability of steal the show.  Nelson is a great grappler and has knockout power in his hands, but can he overcome an elite wrestler like Cormier, who also has amazing knockout power?  Nelson has won many submission wrestling tournaments but Cormier has been to the Olympics, he was at the top of his sport.  If you’re a mixed martial arts fan, you won’t want to miss this card!  For more info about the card and the fighters check out GraciMag or the UFC’s website.

Rafael Lovato Jr. Promotes Nathan and Zach Adamson to Black Belt in BJJ

James Puopolo, Nathan Adamson, Rafael Lovato Jr., Zach Adamson

Big congratulations to our affiliates, the Adamson brothers, who teach at BJJ Seaside in Oregon.  They were promoted to black belt over the weekend and are taking the next step in their BJJ journey.

BJJ is an experience that lasts a lifetime.  It has been said that the real BJJ journey doesn’t begin until a person reaches black belt.  The Adamson brothers are now embarking on the real journey that will last for the rest of their lives.  These guys have definitely earned this coveted rank through ability to teach others while competing, and winning, all over the world.  They run a very successful school and take students to all the tournaments.  They also do well while competing at many of the big tournaments; Pan Ams, Worlds, Asian Open, Rome Open, European No-Gi, and Lisbon Open just to name a few.  They are certainly among the best Americans and have a bright future as black belts!

Anderson Silva Loses at UFC 162, Anything Can Happen in MMA | 30 Day Free Trial | Oklahoma City MMA

Anderson Silva Loses at UFC 162, Anything Can Happen in MMA

MMAI suppose by now everyone has either seen the fight or heard the news, so I’m not worried about posting any spoilers.  Anything can happen in the world of MMA, that’s the fights exist.

Anderson has long been heralded as the best MMA fight of all time.  I have to concur with that statement due to his ability to make the best fighters look like clowns.  However, he is still human, and as such, is susceptible to making mistakes.  Chris Weidman is among the newer generation of UFC talent, but he had many impressive performances.  To think that he had no chance against Silva would be pure ignorance.  In fact, he is probably the most well rounded fighter to step in the octagon with Silva in quite some time.  With that being true, it is easy for Silva to get comfortable being untouchable.  He managed to get away with taunting many of his previous opponents because of his overwhelming skill.  While trying to “clown” Weidman, Silva was caught with a left hand that dropped him to the canvas.  Weidman took advantage of this opportunity and finished the long-time champ via knockout.  There is still no information being released of a possible rematch but you can bet Silva learned his lesson.

Plenty of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at UFC 162 | 30 Day Free Trial | Oklahoma City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Plenty of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at UFC 162

Brazilian Jiu-JitsuUFC 162 is quite possibly the most anticipated event of the year because of the hype behind Silva vs. Weidman.  However, for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fans, this card is made even more exciting.

As many of you know, Anderson Silva is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is no stranger to submitting people in the Octagon.  The fact that Weidman likes to wrestle sets the stage for a possible grappling match.  The same situation is possible with Frankie Edgar and Charles Oliveira.  Oliveira is a brown belt and very submission oriented, while Edgar likes to box and wrestle as the situation needs.  Even more popular to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu crowd will be the match between 7x BJJ world champion, Roger Gracie, and US Army Ranger, Tim Kennedy.  Roger is ranked as the #1 BJJ competitor in the world and has won pretty much every major title the sport has offer.  He also competed in Strikeforce and has since moved over to the UFC.  Tim Kennedy is still an active member of the US Army and continues to train mixed martial arts while staying current on his training as an Army Ranger.  Kennedy has also made the move from Strikeforce to the UFC.  This match also has the potential for a submission due to Kennedy’s willingness to grapple.  However, Kennedy will most likely try to keep it standing and use his superior striking against Roger.
